Do you provide financial assistance?
If you registered for Sababa Beachaway and this is your first time at Jewish sleepaway camp, you may be eligible for a grant opportunity up to $1,000 through the Foundation for Jewish Camp, One Happy Camper program or PJ Library Goes to Camp program. Grant opportunities go quickly, please apply within 30 days of registering for camp to ensure your application is received and reviewed.
Additional financial aid requests and scholarships are given through our parent agency, Commonpoint Queens. To maximize our funds and reach more interested families, Commonpoint Queens uses “FACTS” Management Company Grants to collect financial and tax information from families seeking assistance. FACTS will perform a financial analysis of the required paperwork and recommend a scholarship based on the fiscal need of each specific family. Our goal is to ensure that our funds are being used where most needed, allowing more families to experience the joy, warmth and spirit of Sababa.
How do children get to and from camp?
Campers come to Sababa from across North America. Families are welcome to drop off and pick up their camper from camp. For those flying to/from camp, please contact us directly for specific Sababa flight information. We are also offering coach bus service from Long Island, NY and Central New Jersey to/from camp, please contact us directly as space is limited.
What is the food like at camp, and what if my child has special dietary needs?
Our food is kosher, nutritious and delicious. During the week we provide a wide variety of options at our breakfast and lunch buffets. Snacks and drinks are always provided at specialty activities. Dinners include a variety of family style meals, best of all, Sababa cookouts!!! Shabbat meals are more relaxed and even more delicious. If your child has any dietary needs, please speak with us directly and we will do everything we can to accommodate.

What do you mean Camp on Campus:
Old Dominion University is a gorgeous campus located in beautiful Norfolk, VA. Safe and Secure, our living space is ours alone. Our campers are grouped by age, in double rooms with a private bath. Our counselors' rooms are strategically interspersed to create a bunk-like setting. Our spacious common spaces, set between the girls and boys hall, overlook the quad outside. The campus has the finest outdoor facilities like an Olympic size swimming pool, basketball and soccer courts as well as many areas for all our Sababa activities.
What if my child gets sick at camp?
Our professional medical team, which includes nurses and camp doctors, are here to help ensure your camper’s wellness and well-being. In most cases, sick campers stay in our Health Center until they are able to re-join camp activities. In the event of an overnight stay, a hospital visit, or if our medical staff prescribes or changes any medication, parents will be notified as soon as possible.
